Arduino: interfaces for the interaction with images and sounds

The workshop was aimed at those who enjoy electronics, art, DIY and intends to develop interative spaces that use sensors (devices to capture motion, color, etc) to react with images or sounds.

It introduced the arduino interface and similiar devices, the software Isadora and the concept of modular programming.

The activities were free of charge and open to public participation through previous enrollment.

COORDINATOR

The artist FERNANDO RABELO holds a master degree in Art and Imaging Technologie, from the School of Fine Arts of the Federal University of Minas Gerais. He developed the conditional animation ‘Insônia – se você interagir’ for the web in 2003. He was a highlight of FILE/2005 with the installation ‘Contato QWERTY’ and was an artist in residence of Medialab Madrid in 2006. He was invited for a residency in Holland in 2008/9 at the Vrije Academie/World Wide Visual Factory where he exhibited the 360o panoramic video performance ‘Fliyng saucers’ at 5days_off – Amsterdam. In september of 2009, he exhibited a second version of ‘Contato QWERTY’ at the 9th Biennal of Video and Media Art in Santiago/Chile and was recently awarded by the 8th Sérgio Motta Art and Technology Award.
